Top-pollster Scott Rasmussen weet het: Hillary is niet meer verkiesbaar, en Obama krijgt de nominatie. (Zijn redenering is voor de liefhebbers de moeite waard.) En dus houdt Rasmussen zeer binnenkort op met zijn dagelijkse tracking van Obama vs. Clinton (vandaag 50 tegen 42) en gaat zich beperken tot Obama tegen McCain (nu 47 tegen 44):
"... Rasmussen Reports will soon end our daily tracking of the Democratic race and focus exclusively on the general election competition between Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama. Barring something totally unforeseen, that is the choice American voters will have before them in November. While we have not firmly decided upon a final day for tracking the Democratic race, it is coming soon."
Ondertussen heeft Obama een achterstand van ongeveer 100 in superdelegates ingehaald, en ligt nu ongeveer gelijk of inmiddels zelfs iets voor, meldt de NYTimes.
McCain komt nu ook wat meer in de belangstelling. Arianna Huffington meldde dat John McCain haar bij een diner had toevertrouwd dat hij in 2000 niet voor Bush had gestemd, het verhaal werd ondersteund door andere tafelgenoten, maar McCain weet even van niks. (Hij zou het gegeven ook als een aanbeveling kunnen presenteren.)
Dan is er nog het WaPo-verhaal(van vandaag) over het grootschalig bevoordelen van een gebiedsontwikkelaar in Arizona.
En tot slot McCain's eigen preacher problem: zijn dankbaarheid voor de ondersteuning van een John Hagee, waarvan hij niet de geringste afstand neemt. Hagee heeft allerlei interessante opvattingen over vooral het katholicisme ('this anti-christ system') compleet met boeiende graphics: filmpje.
Wie dacht dat Jeremiah Wright niet helemaal spoorde, meneer Hagee is echt way beyond.
Ondertussen trad Al Gore's running mate Joe Lieberman, de enige senator waarvan ik (sorry, pro-Israel fans) nooit helemaal zeker weet welk land hij precies vertegenwoordigt, in de voetsporen van de legendarische Zell Miller (filmpje) en ondersteunt (ook hier) de Republikeinse kandidaat.

Willem is knettergek. Als een anti-Israel en anti America fan is hij verliefd geworden op de vernietiging van z’n eigen vrijheid. Change! Europa wordt geen technobureaucratie Willem maar een Islamitische Dictatuur. Een dode woestijn. Europa verdedigt zich niet maar verwelkomt gewoon, makkelijk zat. Onder de bezielende leiding van je zo gewaardeerde mensenhater Balkenende (endorsed door Wouter) mag je alleen nog propaganda oppennen. Onvrijheid is de schuld van de vrijheid, hè Willem, let’s kill freedom and change the world… Disgusting.
